Walton County making plans for more parking and beach access

Walton County Working on More Public Beach Access Points

Those of you know that when it comes to finding a place to park when you're heading for the Beach can become difficult and you find yourself, along with others, vying for the same spot that just opened up!  With the growing number of tourists it's clear that something needs to be done.

Walton County is very aware of these issues and are making plans for opening up to 7 parcels dedicated just for public parking and access to the beach.  The problem is that it can take up to 4 years to do it.

Ground has recently been broken on one of these parcels, expected to open up by next June.  This new beach access point will come with amenities including bathrooms, a lifeguard station, a wheelchair accessible ramp and parking, not only for cars but also for bicycles and golf carts.

No word yet on how far along the process is for the remaining 6 parcels but it's hopeful they'll be built sooner rather than later.

Check back for upcoming developments on this important need for our area.
